KEY QUALIFICATIONS

 

-       behavioral ecology and conservation-oriented research;

-       scientific and technical reporting and publication; preparing single species action plans (national and international) and conservation strategic plans for newly identified “biodiversity hot spots”;

-       biodiversity inventorying, mapping, surveying and monitoring; searching rare and threatened wildlife using local traditional knowledge; addressing threats and conservation issues; preparing local red lists, recommendations and action plans;

-       preparing protected area management plans through a participatory approach; in-service training Govt. staff and provision of guidelines about protected area staff cadre; institutional development and strengthening; following up and negotiating implementation of recommendations and guidelines; conservation advocacy;  

-       discussing, planning and providing guidelines and feasibility analyses on development of (responsible) eco-tourism;

-       preparing conservation education material (especially scientific texts in a popular format intermixed with good quality pictures) and organizing awareness raising events;

-       liasing between partners, institutions, national counterparts and donors; representation and institutional facilitation;

-       fund raising, developing and preparations of project proposals, submission to donors and follow up;

-       involving, “awakening” and self-organizing local community through capacity building, awareness raising, conservation education, English teaching and directly supporting development of small-scale eco-tourism guiding.
